MIKE ELLISTON
Mike is a full member of the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain and has been a professional writer since 1985, having had over 18 of his plays and short solo works performed.
He has won both an Edinburgh Fringe First and NSDF awards, ranging on subjects from the Troubles in Northern Ireland (Bread ‘n’ Butter Guns), Myra Hindley (Morons & Cabbages), the painter Francisco de Goya/the fi rst Gulf War (Queen With Rotting Teeth) and an adaptation of Ibsen’s last play, When We Dead Awaken (DEAD). Mike has also worked commercially as a TV script editor and writer for ITV and Channel 5 and jointly ran his own video production company, Big Hand Productions with Lucy Wagner (now McCarraher). He has also written audio entertainment product (under licence) exclusively for Lucasfi lm for Star Wars – The Original Trilogy, Doctor Who for BBC Worldwide, Star Trek for Paramount Pictures, James Bond for MGM and The Fifth Element for Pathe. He has been a visiting lecturer in screenwriting at the University of Bedfordshire and a regular script reader for the Royal National Theatre, The Kings Head, Bill Kenwright Ltd and Arts Council England. Since 2014,
Mike has enjoyed working closely with the salon:collective as an associate artist in a mutually beneficial relationship: not only in an advisory role, but also collaborating on new projects as well as receiving dramaturgical support for projects including TRAILER/trash.
In addition to playwriting, in 2015, Mike joined the team at Rethink Press as a freelance writer and works with their expanding client list of business authors who wish to plan, develop and write their own books.
